We’ve made it, we have finally reached number ONE of Chichi Furniture’s Top 20 Fabulous French Pics.
Although I have to admit it was hard putting them in order as they were all beautiful and very different.
So the winner is this beautiful French style bedroom, a striking black ornate Genevieve Bed that owns the room, an equally stunning Bordeau bedside table that is a bold feature to complement the bed, whilst the decor is delicate and neutral. The huge wall standing gold mirror adds detail, glamour and warmth, whilst softening the overall scheme and the chandelier pulls the ceiling into you eye line ensuring its not a cold empty space above such beautiful room setting.
A perfectly designed and well balanced room, each item standing out just enough without being overpowering – would you agree?
Hello and welcome to Chichi’s top 20 count down of Fabulous French Furniture Pics.
Today we are on number 17 and we are talking mirror envy. The beautiful silver contemporary French Mirror shown below is a stunning stand alone feature, which fills what would ordinarily be another empty corner of a room.
The silver is highlighted against the black carpet and blind, gives a little lift to the neutral walls and compliments the sparkling chandelier. The fact its an oversized piece means it drawers you into the space and completes the design of the room in amazing style – wouldn’t you agree?
Well, its September and autumn is officially on its way. The days are feeling a tiny bit colder and the darkness is creeping into our homes earlier than we would like!
So to combat that sad syndrome and lack of light in your life feeling, add a fantastic French style mirror to your rooms.
Mirrors are a fabulous instant quick fix, they are beautiful features that can really bring a style together and in addition they reflect oodles of extra light around a room. They create a focal point, therefore making a room feel more cohesive and not disjointed. You may have a large empty wall where a piece of art work might be just a bit too much, but a mirror would be perfect, they are stylishly indiscreet, filling a space without looking too much.
Well, its back to work today after a lovely bank holiday weekend. Problem is when you have a few days off, you get used to it!!!
Having finished Chichi’s A-Z of French Style, Shabby Chic Furniture, I introduce to you our new theme;
‘French Interior Design Room by Room’
Today I am going to start with the lounge and the Shabby Chic look – where furniture is often worn/distressed, achieving an aged/romantic look of soft opulence.
French Furniture can often be curvaceous and highly detailed, so be careful not to create a room that appears chaotic. A few choice pieces to define the space may be best. You want your eye to be drawn in and able to take in the scheme and not be darting around all over the place. Decide what is important and necessary in the room and what the focal point will be. For instance, If its the TV, why not rest the TV on a beautiful unit and hang a gorgeous French Mirror above it, this way when sitting down and facing the big black box, your attention is drawn to the stunning unit and mirror sandwiching the boring black screen and that area of the room manages to retain some style, rather than being purely functional. Consider the colour of mirror frame too, this could be a good way to introduce a new colour to the scheme – especially gold, as it contrasts yet compliments beautifully, breaking up any uniform colour blocks from larger items in the room, adding a hint of warmth and depth.
Maybe mismatch the seating a bit. A chaise or love seat could be fabulous as the main attraction, with 2 single chairs adding a bit more character without over doing it, this breaks up the continuity that matching sets can create. Using upholstered pieces in similar colours but different patterns or vice/versa can add a new dimension and texture too. You can then start to accessorize with curtains and cushions and begin to pull the look together.
Think about whether or not you want a coffee table, you may decide to allow more space and just use side tables, why not an ottoman that can become a table/footstool and storage box.
I love walking into rooms that tell a story and where you can see the owners character so a gorgeous display unit could be just the thing. A great way to show off your treasures in a contained way.
Finally, lighting. Don’t forget the vast expanse above your head. A beautiful chandelier will stylishly complete you room.
It’s Monday again and as life is flying by, so is the A-Z French Style Furniture from Chichi and today we find ourselves on ‘S’.
‘S’ is for Silver, sleek and stylish. A colour that is less domineering than Gold, but equally as stylish and a fabulous contrasting colour with black.
Below are some stylish silver numbers form Chichi to help get those creative juices flowing in how to style up your home the silver way.
Christmas is coming and we all start to think about how we are going to accommodate too many people to actually fit in our homes, what presents to buy and where to hide them, where to put a turkey thats too big for the fridge and of course decorating the house! If you actually think about it, its crazy that each Christmas we go to great lengths to haul huge outdoor trees into our homes, but Christmas just wouldn’t be the same without it.
Well, i’m not sure how to help with the first issues!!! But in regards to decorating the home, how about adding a touch of sparkle without the need for too much tinsel!
Gold, Silver and flickering candles always makes me think of Christmas and if you are lucky enough to have a mantel, hanging a stunning gold/silver mirror and then just draping some festive greenery or adding a few accent pieces – candles or figurines can create an understated less is more Christmas display.
Happy planning from Chichi.
